Description: This is one of the first jutsus developed by Kaoru. Its a fairly simple jutsu that requires the user to make the basic handseals for a katon tech while appropriately molding their chakra into the desired shape. The typical shape is a butterfly, having been the creature Kaoru used when developing it. These can take whatever shape the user wishes, however, not always having to be butterflies.
The user will then cup the palms of their hands together and blow gently into them. When the user opens their hands, a swarm of fifteen to twenty small butterflies made of flames, each no bigger than a toonie, will flutter out. These can be used to start all kinds of fires from grass fires and camp fires, to even lighting people or buildings on fire. As long as what the butterflies land on is flammable, it will light on fire after a second or two. They can also be used for lighting the way in the dark. They will fly where the user directs them to.
Drawbacks: The butterflies can easily be distinguished by a strong gust of wind or a splash of water. If the user stops directing the butterflies they can fly off in random directions and light things on fire accidentally if the user is keeping the jutsu going.

Description: This is a nearly identical technique as Hakka-Gu, however it serves a different purpose. They are far less flammable than their counterparts as well, and emit a softer light. They are made the same way with the second hand seal being different, but the intent the same. These are used to gather intelligence from outside an open window or the like by acting like a microphone or recording device for listening in on conversation. This was developed when Kaoru wondered what else she could do with her jutsu aside from just lighting things on fire.
Drawbacks: The recordings can often come out garbled, and the light emitted make it considerably less useful in dark areas where one is trying to listen in, as it can be noticed.

Gathering Katon chakra within them, the user will manipulate it to flow just over their skin and create a soft glow and heat that can be increased and decreased at will. It can be isolated to one area of the body, such as a hand or foot, or eyes, or can be used over the whole body. When used with Taijutsu, strikes from the user can create small burns, first degree in nature at worst. The heat does not burn the user's skin, however.
Drawbacks: This has difficulty being used when wearing clothes, as it can accidentally light the clothes on fire if the user isn't careful.

Description: The user pours their chakra into their hair, causing the hair to grow in length up to 6 feet at max. Because the desired chakra is Katon, the hair catches fire. It will burn anyone it touches thanks to this, though it won't burn the user. It essentially creates a shield of fire covered hair around the user for 6 seconds. The hair burns away as its shielding the user, so once the 6 seconds are up the user's hair is gone back to its original length. The hair that burned off is just excess, so the user can do this again quickly if needed. It prevents anyone from getting close to the user temporarily.
Drawbacks: Hair burns away within seconds of activating this jutsu. While it won't burn the uder it will burn anyone else, friendly or otherwise.

The user can create the clone from embers from something nearby, such as a burned out campfire, or using the fire from a Katon jutsu that was just used, These clones are physical and when they strike an opponent they can burn them. These burns usually only result in first degree burns at worst. These act as any other elemental clone would, and look like the user but with cracked skin where small licks of flame can sometimes be seen.
Drawbacks: The clones can only be made if there is fire around the user. The clones are able to be dispelled with a simple solid punch or splash of water or equivalent, and can't perform any jutsu themselves.

Description: The user places down an explosive tag with the name of the genjutsu written on the back. To prime the jutsu, the user will cast the first hand seal over the explosive tag. To activate, all they have to do is be within the range of the tag and form the second hand seal. The explosive tag won't have the same explosive force as a regular tag. It'll be considerably smaller, half the force of a regular one, as the goal isn't to main the target.
Once activated, anyone within the 20 meter range of the tag with be caught in the jutsu. They will see their body start to take on strange shapes as if it was possessed by a monster. Fingers will start to warp and bend at unnatural angles, then the hands, then arms, and so forth. Those trapped in the genjutsu won't feel any pain but they'll believe they're being misshapen and fear will set in because of it. While they are busy trying to make their body stop whatever its doing the caster and/or their teammates can move in unnoticed to incapacitate the target.
Drawbacks: If the target sees the caster the genjutsu will be broken.
