Potent Jiton: Despite lacking any clear ancestor to attribute his inheritance to beyond it likely being on his mother/uncle's side of the family due to his cousin, it cannot be denied that Kurogane won the genetic lottery. Possessing the rare Jiton Kekkei Genkai, Kurogane's affinity with the release is so strong that the Jonin has nearly abandoned all other forms of ninjutsu bar the most basic techniques and a handful of Futon releases to counter Raiton users. As his primary affinity, Kurogane's chakra naturally leans towards Jiton as its default state, naturally generating a powerful magnetic field around the Jonin independent of conscious thought - although, with concentration, this field can be suppressed to mitigate its effect on the environment around him, or even manipulated to the point of complete reversal at the drop of a hat thus allowing Kurogane to freely interact with nearby metals. Due to the potency of Kurogane's particular brand of Jiton, the magnetic field surrounding his body naturally extends out to nearly three meters before sharply dropping off to the point of impotence at 3.3 meters, although this field can be extended, compressed or forced to change shape from its natural sphere shape through the expenditure of chakra. This, however, leads into the most unique application of the skill normally impossible for other Jiton users, namely its application in genjutsu.
As powerful electromagnetic waves have been shown to have both adverse and beneficial effects on the human brain, it only took a handful of years for Kurogane to repurpose this knowledge towards his own less than upstanding usage. Perhaps the most disturbing facet of this usage is the persistent nature of such techniques. While just as easy to dispel with Genjutsu Kai as any other genjutsu, illusions inflicted by Kurogane's Jiton will immediately reassert themselves onto the victim's mind so long as they remain within range of Kurogane or a substance imbued with his Jiton natured chakra. As a result it becomes incredibly difficult to free oneself from such techniques once they have been cast if they remain close to the source, and even more difficult to differentiate them from reality as Genjutsu Kai may appear to work for one instant only for it to apparently fail. More importantly, however, is that due to the techniques bridging the gap between ninjutsu and genjutsu and being entirely reliant on the Jiton release itself, genjutsu cast through this method cannot be reflected by abilities such as the Sharingan, much in the same way that Jiton techniques cannot be copied by it. Despite these strengths, however, this brand of genjutsu is subject to one key weakness in that it cannot be cast from a distance - due to the quick falloff strength in magnetic fields as one moves away from the source, casting genjutsu of this nature requires Kurogane to either move close enough to envelop an opponent within the magnetic field surrounding his body, or to inflict it through close proximity to his magnetic sand. Consequently, the one and only concrete counter to techniques cast this way is deceptively simple - one need only move away from the magnetic field responsible and perform Genjutsu Kai, although the invisible nature of such fields can quickly complicate matters in that regard.
Chakra Control: Blessed from birth with an abundance of chakra at nearly double that compared to Jonin of similar rank, most would not assume chakra control to be among such a shinobi's most relied upon strengths. Kurogane's tireless effort and rather singleminded pursuit in perfecting his control over the brute force he naturally possessed, however, has granted the Jonin an above average level of control with his chakra, something made most readily apparent in his ninjutsu and genjutsu, the latter being an all but impossible endeavor otherwise. When coupled with his already impressive chakra reserves it grants Kurogane an incredible degree of stamina and endurance on the battlefield. Moreover, Kurogane's level of concentration and control grants him an impressive flexibility and allows the Jonin to multitask, layering and combining high level ninjutsu and genjutsu for unique effects. Finally, Kurogane's level of chakra control allows him to significantly cut down on the number of hand seals required for an single technique allowing him to perform many on a whim and through sheer willpower alone, most notably those he's most familiar with and all but eliminating the use of hand seals entirely with his natural Jiton release.
Sensor: A skill developed during the years spent perfecting his chakra control and only further improved since then, Kurogane boasts a rather peculiar distinction of being a sensor type shinobi, a stark contrast to his normal brute force fighting style. Relatively unremarkable compared to others with similar skills due to an effective range of only a rough 50 meters, the real benefit of it stems from the sheer accuracy of Kurogane's "sixth" sense. While he'd never be able to use it as a replacement for actually being able to see when aiming, Kurogane's sensory ability gives him an uncanny awareness of his surroundings at all times. Most of the time this amounts to little more than a vague knowledge of his surroundings and the location of people within them, but in combat this makes Kurogane nearly impossible to catch off guard, granting him an almost omniscient awareness of his opponents' locations within his immediate surroundings. By extension, Kurogane tends to be most effective during combat in low visibility environments such as dense weather or during night hours, able to freely move about and fight as easily as he would in broad daylight. Crowds, however, can disrupt or "jam" this sixth sense unless Kurogane knows exactly what he is looking for, as can jutsu such as the Kirigakure no Jutsu meant to flood the air with ambient chakra specifically designed to shut down sensors.
