SHINOBI INFORMATION
Position: Sandaime Mizukage, SSM
Chakra Natures: Raiton, Suiton, Doton, Inton
Specialties:
ninjutsu: Naoko's niche is in ninjutsu. It can be argued that every shinobi-barring the few unique ones-has a niche in ninjutsu, natural affinity and chakra pools being an innate part of all shinobis, but few have pulled it to the level Naoko has. Naoko has some skill in the other shinobi arts, but ninjutsu has always come the easiest to her-which is actually how she became so proficient in it, expanding on a skill that was already there. Beyond raiton, Naoko has improved her skill with suiton, simply because she is one of the handful of Kirigakure shinobi not born with water as her natural affinity. It seemed like a waste, with all the water around her. In recent years, she has also supplemented her technique with doton, so that she has a wild card, as it were.
bukijutsu: jazz hands
sensory: This is one of the skills that Naoko doesn't tend to advertise much. Because of her background as an oinin, as well as her lifetime of developing her chakra control, Naoko has become sensitive to chakra as a whole. It has developed her sensory abilities, so much so that she could technically be classified as a sensory-nin. While she is constantly aware of chakra at a baseline level, it takes actual concentration for her to sense beyond that, so she can't sense as well as fight, needing to pick one over the other. Because of this, Naoko doesn't often rely on this skill, though it has saved her life on more than one occasion. She still prefers to be on the front line of things, but age has taught her to appreciate this skill, and use it to assess danger before throwing herself into things.

HISTORY
Naoko was born and raised on the water.
This isn't really something unique, not in a village like Kirigakure no Sato, but it is what shaped her in her early years. Both of her parents were fishermen; they would go out on the water for weeks and then return, sell what they didn't eat on the coast, rest for a few days and then return to the water. This was all Naoko knew. She didn't mind the isolation-she loved the water, and all the animals that came up to greet her were all the friends she needed. This didn't mean she knew no one else-she helped bring customers into her parents stall whenever they were on land, so she certainly met quite a few people. But still, it's hard to have lasting relationships with someone when you spend more time on the water than you do land.
The only plan Naoko had for the rest of her life was to do what her parents do. She entertained the thought of becoming a veterinarian, but not a lot of people in Kirigakure had pets, and besides-she couldn't stomach doing half the things to animals that she'd have to, being a veterinarian. She was happy with her life, happy with the direction it was taking. Until she started showing signs of being able to control chakra. Academy teachers were waiting at her doorstep on one of their off days, and they took her away to test her further. Upon showing signs of a deep chakra pool, Naoko was enrolled in the academy at the tender age of five.
RP SAMPLE
Naoko had to pace herself. She had never even been to an event like this, let alone one held in her honor. Sure, she knew that no matter who had become the Rokudaime Mizukage, the party would have happened, but everyone's eyes were on her. She was no stranger to being examined by everyone in the room: the trials after the war was won, the executions she'd been apart of, the times where she had to do escorts, even her time as Terumī's guard had acclimatized her to being, if not the center of attention, directly adjacent to it. Naoko couldn't call what she was feeling shyness, per say. It wasn't like she was some blushing maiden off to her wedding night. But it was still... odd to be the center of such grand attention.
It was nearing the end of the main feast, people were slowly branching out from the main feast hall. Which is why Naoko was still there. In the beginning, when Naoko had first set foot on Hōshuku, she had been swarmed by people. She had even sought a few of them out herself, needing to do at least some duty. But now, Naoko found herself with nothing pressing to do and a lot of people scrambling to get her attention for something or another. It was tedious and... well, annoying, frankly. Which was why Naoko was now avoiding pretty much everyone. In plain sight. By being among pretty much everyone.
It had been proven to work before.
Naoko discreetly slipped another tray out of a serving girl's hands as she passed by, nodding to her when she noticed. She already had two plates balanced on her hand, it was no issue to set another on top of the middle one. Naoko looked around for another server, or for someone familiar. She thought about hunting her daughter down, but then realized Izumi was probably off doing her own thing, or had even weaseled her way into leaving the island to return home. If not, she'd see Izumi in her own time. When she wanted to. So, Naoko was stuck finding someone else not draining to hide with. Naoko caught sight of the perfect subject as she passed by some of the more thinly populated tables.
Nagai Eizo was... A peculiar man. She'd known him for a long time, though whether or not he knew who she was, was still up in the air. There were suspicions, but they hadn't really ever had a moment alone for Naoko to confirm. And it wasn't like she could just pick up where they left off-without counting the security reasons of outing herself as the former Oinin Butai captain, she couldn't exactly continue to provide him with corpses for her research, especially not with her current position. That didn't mean they couldn't talk. Besides, he looked like he needed it. Outside of his workshop, he only seemed to summon his jellyfish when he was on edge. Naoko scanned the contents of the trays she held for any of his friends, before snagging a couple tall glasses of the booze she'd chosen for the night from a serving girl that passed by-very quickly, by the looks of it-and made her way over to him.
"Hello, Nagai-sama," Naoko said as she approached-the jellyfish probably had given her approach away, but just in case it hadn't, she really didn't want to go around startling a man like Nagai. She knew she had a tendency to walk and move silently, and sometimes she fell into the habit without meaning to. She slid into the seat directly in front of him, laying out the serving trays beside them, their bodies in between the food and the rest of the population. It looked like he was hungry. She set the glass in front of him, before taking a sip of her own, never once looking away from him. That's how you were polite, right? Eye contact?
"How are you enjoying the festivities?"
