NANASHI HATTORI
QUOTE/LYRIC HERE
15 | FEMALE |
GENIN | KONOHA |
APPEARANCE
Nanashi is quite the girl-next-door; she has the sweet smile and big optimistic personality. She stands a bit shorter than the average girl, a lithe build but not skinny. A trained shinobi to say the least and she's got lean muscles hidden under clothes. She has a light brown hair with brown eyes, looks inherited by both her parents. her hair while had been a dark brown when she was born had lightened over the years due to the influence of Kurama within her. While she has her mother's shape and features, her eyes are completely her father's.
Preferring to wear her hair long, Nanashi often has part of it up in a half pony tail to stop it sweeping over her shoulders. She keeps her bangs framing her face, out of her eyes. She likes to wear a menagerie of different shades of colours; simple clothes are something she feels the most comfort in. Better to be comfortable than uncomfortable in long run, especially in missions. Nanashi wears skirts with shorts underneath, hoodies and t-shirts; on occasions pants if the mission calls for it.
PERSONALITY
From the moment the sun rises to when it sets, Nanashi is an ardent person. She's friendly and caring deeply about those important to her; she is a passionate individual with beliefs and dreams.
Fervent like the Dawn
Optimistic and earnest are two words many would describe Nanashi. While not a happy-go-lucky person, she is quite positive in the darkest times and a strong believer that people will get through. Not at all a fool in believing in a fool's dream, she is well aware of the limits of herself and those around her. She is a bit hot-headed but she will not risk her teammates and comrades by being foolish.
With her optimistic side, one could say she is quite the creative person. Like her parents, Nanashi is observant and sly; her creative could run a little dark at times but she is always looking out for the best option. A bit of a genius in her own ways, if she was to boast. She like to think outside the box, in the box and whatever else she could do with the box; she's always looking for something.
Tranquil like the Eventide
Not one to boost, Nanashi is proud of both her heritage and talent. She is fully aware of her own talent, and it's up to her on how she wants to take it. Going against the grain, Nanashi goes her way or the highway. She is a firm believer of making her own path in her life and many would say she was heavily influenced by her parents in that matter.
She lives her life in relative peace even with Kurama being a large part of it. He is a large part of her life, whether she wanted it or not. There had been many times, she has had to make peace with this part of her; that nothing would be normal so she doesn't live normally. Nanashi isn't one to cave to pressure but to create her own. She will swallow orders but when people tell her how to live her life, she tends to respond a little hot-headedly. Prideful on her own little family and the happiness around them, she will defend against anything; no one insults her family and gets away with it.
On-going like the Midday
Nanashi rarely stops, she feels like she's always on the go. That there is always something she can do, whether good nor bad; creating jutsu, spending time with her parents or hanging out with her cousin and friends. She's outgoing and friendly to most around her but she's loyal to those who weather through it all to be a long-term friend.
She loves to learn, unlike many genin or students; she had no qualms about homework and rather loved to go and work on the next chapter. Books were devoured like candies and Nanashi would say her favourite genre is fiction. Any kind of fiction and she would read it up like no tomorrow. The feel of paper and the words lit up fantasy and weird notion of everything.

HISTORY
The Hattori family has long owned a trading company as far back as the Warring States Era; they were quite familiar with many types of business as well as construction work as a trade company but they were also skilled with combat. There had been plenty of times over the decades where the family had to defend their cargo or even their businesses from attack. With both combat and business sense, the Hattori family had transitioned into shinobi life quite well in the last couple decades.
When Konohagakure no Sato was being founded the Hattori family took to the safety that the village would offer and in turn they would offer their skills at trade and their strong young men to walk the life of the shinobi. Hattori Kyoya was born and raised in Konohagakure no Sato and like his cousins before him, he would choose the career of the shinobi. His father continued to assist the Hokage and the village, allowing his son to follow his dreams until he was of age to marry. Kyoya would have an arranged marriage with a young woman named Ito, Noriko - the daughter of another prominent merchant. They were married in the late summer and Noriko became pregnant shortly after.
Born on June 27th, it was debatable whether the odds were stack for or against Hattori Nanashi. Tragedy would take the life of her mother Noriko as her pregnancy with Nanashi had become complicated in the last few months. Even in spite of a successful birth, Nanashi's mother would pass away in the following day as complications took their toll. In light of all of this, Nanashi's father, Hattori Kyoya would make the best of the situation he could - he would have too.
Within weeks of his daughter being born, Kyoya would come to a hard decision - he was faced with offering his child to become the Jinchurriki of the Kyūbi. It was sheer luck, whether good or bad, that Nanashi had been born as she did. Days before, the previous Jinchuriki had take ill - powerful as the Kyūbi was, it could only do so much to fight disease complicated by advanced age and the village was hard pressed to find a suitable replacement to host the beast. Faced with an incredibly short list of suitable candidates and with his current host at death's doorstep, the Kyūbi would soon find himself sealed within Nanashi.
In one month, Nanashi would find herself motherless and the cards stack against herself. Yet, after hitting rock bottom, one can only go up. Her father would remarry, this time for love to a woman named Hitaru Miyu and she would become Nanashi's stepmother. Miyu, like her father worked as a shinobi and their paths had long crossed before Kyoya and Noriko had married.
Despite the conflict and stress that the new parents' chosen professions would bring to daily life, the family would find at least some small amount of peace.
Come Hell or High Water
Nanashi learned from a young age to listen and observe; that secrets were meant to be hidden and held. Sometimes it is best to be the loudest and the most outgoing; the things said behind and under whispers give one the best information. Sometimes it is best to be stealthy, to be quiet and to watch.
Many lessons were given as she grew; her life full of love and new teachings. Everything held some meaning, and she enjoyed every moment of it. Her tastes for life were insatiable, both Kyoya and Miyu encouraging an open-minded approach to it. Never closed off, the world full of possibilities.
There were hard times when both of her parents were sent on missions and sometimes only one was there while the other was gone. She was not resentful of their careers but aspired to be a shinobi herself that she would benefit the village that her parents and she came to love.
When she had entered the academy, she was more than well versed in shinobi basics. Her parents' knowledge and lessons had well seen her as an advanced student; an eager one none the less. She didn't mind the homework assigned, it gave her the tools to succeed. And heaven forbid she didn't. Nanashi had goals and dreams to go forward and she wasn't going to stop for anything.
"While attending the institution her years at the Academy were quiet and tame; there was no wrestling of bears or being thrown out into the wild with nothing but a toothbrush. Though many classmates had hoped for more excitement and challenge it just wasn't how things were done. Nanashi, however, was fine with that. She excelled at learning about ninjutsu; she found herself intrigued by the art. It was like anything was possible and all at her finger tips."
The one downside to it all was her own secret within.
Moon-flowers and Dreams
Many children looked forward to graduating, some hesitant and unsure but Nanashi was definitely in the first category. She was excited to move forward, to take her first step in the world being a shinobi. While the Academy gave her the basic tools, her parents lessons gave her an edge. Nanashi was a cut above the rest, she was a little quicker and a little faster but she was still very much a student. She always knew she had wanted to be a shinobi, to protect the village her own parents loved and served; the one she too had fallen in love with. Far from naive but not as jaded as the oldest, Nanashi knew what awaited outside and was prepared for her choices.
When she had graduated, it was truly a step of misfortune at first. The knowledge of what her parents truly protected, the secret they guarded so thoroughly in her life, was the one housed within her, the Kyūbi - Kurama. They had taken her aside and explained everything, allowing her the choice on whom she would tell.
Her parents had loved her and protected her as best that they could but it was now her chance to learn and protect her own secret. Nanashi felt dread at first of the knowledge of what was within her but it was her duty to the village to keep him within. Kurama had destroyed so much prior to being sealed away, and often both teachers and her parents had spoken in passing of the damage he had done. The beast was snarky, he was prideful but she could be smart. She could snark back, engage in his pride and sass to provide humour of the day; she would learn her own ways of fighting back but for now, she would learn to have a tough shell.
Nanashi had been placed on an average team and she had no complaints about her teammates or sensei. It was how she would spent the years there until she was thirteen, she was shifted onto another team with her adopted older brother Arata. The Jounin Sensei was able and had first tested them; the test had been unexpected. While her and Arata had a good sense of teamwork, it had been apparent Arata and other student just did not mesh. It was not out of spite or malice, just kept missing each other in connection and communication. Unfortunately they would be teammates for a while as they would be held back.
Nanashi had continued her studies in ninjutsu with taking a hint of genjutsu and bukijutsu; being influenced by both her parents and Arata at one point. Her parents' teaching had given her an early survival; Kyoya had personally taken to teaching her about ninjutsu and working on helping her with Kurama. He didn't think any teacher would be able to teach her any better than someone who had the same passions. While her father had imparted his basic knowledge, she took it and ran with it; she was creative in her own right and could be seen over the years scribbling away in scrolls and books.
Eventually things would be shifted as they became older and more experienced. Now waiting on being shuffled into a new team, Nanashi would find herself being shifted with Arata. Their Jounin Sensei and third member would be lost in the mix so to say. Now they await their new team and teacher.
RP SAMPLE
Do you plan to sit on your ass all day?
May be.
Hattori Nanashi was content to sit on the fence of a park across from the market. 'People watching' as many called it. Some would say it was interesting to do - others didn't. There was the few, Kurama included, that would say it depended on their mood. Today was not the day that Kurama wanted to watch and insult people who walked by. No, he was more interested in telling her that her choice of clothes were terrible, that her brother was a lazy no-good and that she needed a hair cut. That wasn't even the worst of it.
The snarky or sharp comments and suggestions were always there and the world always seemed like white and black, good and bad, demon and angel. Some days it would be hard to get up and live in a world of gray. There was nothing that was every right or wrong - a play on moral and will power.
Yesterday, they had completed a mission - much to Kurama's surprise that their teammates could actually be able to chase a cat around the neighbourhood. One was too fat in his opinion and the other smelt like dog shit. Nanashi let the comment roll on by, there was no need to argue. She had long learned to just let him rant and rave; sometimes she would join in but it wasn't the time or place of course. Today though, it would have been a good day to do so. Except Kurama's target of choice was herself.
Sigh.
A lazy day before the real fun would start. Another new team and new sensei. Forever would she and Arata be shuffled around, especially with their luck.
Her eyes looked over the people around her, knowing soon it would be dinner time at home. Her stepmother and father would be home tonight; it had been a while since the whole household would be home to enjoy a meal. Especially within the last couple of years when Arata had finally graduated.
Kurama continued his little spiteful descriptions of her by until he settled upon a thought.
Should get pork buns on the way home.
Finally a good suggestion.
