Rekijitsu Doujutsu
Jutsu Name: Rekijitsu Doujutsu
Why you want this jutsu:
I’d like to have the custom doujutsu for clan and character plot purposes. The doujutsu the Hitaru use, Rekijitsu, is an interrogation based ability. It is useful for the purposes of withdrawing memories from shinobi, ideal for people who are able to withstand interrogation techniques that involve pain and torture. The information is gathered from the subject in a nearly painless manner and can then be utilized however the shinobi needs it. The Hitaru is a clan of interrogation specialists and the doujutsu is how they go about doing so. Rekijitsu has its drawbacks, while it is useful in gathering memories from others, it is also able to be used on oneself which can be dangerous if the person using it decides to remain within the world of their memories, which (as will be seen within Miyu’s app) has happened to a number within the clan before. The doujutsu is less a combative technique, since it requires direct eye contact and only works within a short range.
While there are two aspects to the doujutsu, only one is able to be controlled and utilized while the other is purely involuntary and only happens to the user. The second aspect requires the user to be on the cusp of death to awaken and the future they see may or may not even transpire within their lifetime. It cannot be used at will, which means it would never be able to assist them in a battle to foresee or predict an opponent’s moves. While it doesn’t appear to be the most effective techniques one could have, as one could spend their lives obsessing as to what they saw will or won’t come to pass, anyone who manages to glean the future and live, records what was seen within a special clan tome in case the time comes that what was seen does indeed come to pass. The secondary aspect is a drawback of the doujutsu for those who live through the event that cause its awakening; as the first aspect allows someone to pry into the lives and minds of others, potentially causing harm to their psyche, the secondary aspect can cause harm to the user’s own psyche if one is unable to see past their own visions.
The Rekijitsu is an integral part of the Hitaru clan, its part of who they are as interrogation specialists and as shinobi. They are an asset to a village, able to call forth secrets from those who try to hide and can help ferret out the truth from enemy shinobi. It also a part of Miyu and has helped define who she is as a person and as a shinobi. It is due to these reasons that I would very much like to be able to have the Rekijitsu.

Memories. Items of one’s life that were often treasured and cherished, clung to like a blanket that made most people feel secure. The bad memories being pushed back into the recesses of the mind by the good memories; but within her honey-coloured eyes, Miyu had the ability to call them forward. Every haunting, every painful, every torturous memory a person possessed she could call them to the surface just by staring into their eyes and willing it to be so. She’d been doing so for years, ever since she was a teenager. At first the memories had been tiring to pull from someone, requiring stillness and focus within her own mind and her surroundings, but through years of training she all but needed to sit across from someone and stare them in the eyes to pull them forth. For those tight-lipped about what she or those whom she worked for wanted, she merely asked them one simple question to bring the memory to the forefront of their mind.
The person across from her was one such shinobi, as silent as moonless night and as unaffected by the pain the shinobi around him were inflicting that they’d called for her unique abilities. Her small frame and delicate appearance always made for an unsuspecting threat against others. The small room must’ve seemed confining for the shinobi as she began to press against his mind, searching for what was needed. She felt him try to close the images away from her, but she held her focus, tugging control away from him until she found what was needed. Closing her eyes, she severed the connection with the man, wanting no more of the images in his mind.
Rising from her seat, she moved to the doorway and exited the room, turning to the man waiting there. “He hid the scroll in a water ball in the river. No one would think differently of water within water,” she told him, pinching the bridge of her nose.
“Was there anything else you saw?”
Folding her hands into her long kimono sleeves, she merely answered, “Nothing different than I’ve seen before. They’ll fade within a few hours, they always do.”
It had been a drawback she’d discovered of using the Rekijitsu, while she could pull the memories she needed forward, she often times pulled others that she wasn’t looking for. Ones that could be either sweet, like having dinner with your family; or haunting, like going on a mass killing spree. As long as she didn’t dwell on them, they would fade away from her mind within a couple hours, into the dark void where suppressed memories laid themselves to rest.
