Raika sat on a large flat piece of stone in the middle of the training grounds. This large flat piece of stone was created using the Earth-Style rampart but nowhere to the limit of the jutsu in question. For one, it was only a meter from the ground, and it was only five meters across each side. It would make for a decent sparring circle and picnic area especially since it was completely smooth, and he could alter it at will with his Earth natured chakra for an alternate environment for spars. He could also tweak it during spars if the man wanted to do so.
Hunched over a scroll, the man was working on a seal that he couldn't get right. Ink was splotched on his forehead and cheeks. His trench coat was tossed to the side so it wouldn't get ink upon it. Gnashing his teeth in frustration, the man continued to work on the seal he was making while waiting for his cute little students to arrive. Throwing the scroll into a growing pile of scrolls from a rather large mistake, the mild-mannered man was actually angry. The seal wasn't working like Raika wanted it to.
Pulling another scroll from a sealing scroll filled with scrolls, the man started to work on the seal once more. 'Gotta keep going, Raika. You're gonna get this eventually,' he thought angrily to himself. Fuinjutsu was easy to the man, but this particular seal took a large metal bat to his head and continued to beat him over the head.
The man wasn't sure what the seal would do at the end of creation, it was a completely new seal that he was creating. It could seal chakra to a singular point on the body and release it all at once to empower his techniques, or it could teleport him to the seal. Raika just did not know what it could be. He had been in the training grounds for over a couple hours, since it was nice and peaceful. Suddenly, an explosion happened engulfing the man, revealing that this was a Shadow Clone that had been working on the seal and the real man was in the tree line.
"Well now… That was the wrong combination. Noted," he said to himself while writing down the wrong combination. Raika had started to use shadow clones for seals just for this reason alone. They were highly volatile when you slip chakra in them accidentally.

Post by Hitaru Arata on Dec 3, 2017 2:05:16 GMT
the things that you might like don't grow inside of me As much as Arata might've liked people and talking to them in a general sense, it was another thing entirely to say that he had much confidence in them.
Not even that was so simple, though. Arata knew he was still young, inexperienced, what many might even call naive despite his understanding of the world... and to a point, that was true. He still held faith in the individual, the person. There were a large number of names that he could honestly attribute enjoyment speaking to, individuals who enriched his life in a positive way and who Arata would gladly spend hours with. Individuals that he could trust to have his back, to keep promises and get results when they said they would, or do their best to correct a problem when they fell short of such a goal. That was really the core of the issue, though. Individuals, by and large, tended to be smart and dependable. People as a whole, not so much. While the groupthink phenomenon might've provided a few fun opportunities for the sake of entertainment, fact was that more often than not it just made people dumber - and the older you got, the more you were exposed to it.
Peer pressure was far more terrifying than you were often led to believe as a child, especially once you really started to think about it.
It was probably because of that mindset, though, that Arata wasn't exactly enthusiastic about the sudden news that he and Nanashi had been finally reassigned to a Jonin sensei. Well, to be more accurate... another one. He wasn't even remotely close to being the first. Both of them had been genin for two, almost three years now, and while that was hardly remarkable in and of itself there were a number of other considerations aside from Nanashi's own unique status. Being placed on the same team practically from the get go despite the one year age difference was both a blessing and a curse. Team work wasn't something that either of them had trouble with - despite his adopted status they'd always gotten along incredibly well, enough that had it not been for the other problem they probably would have taken the Chunin Exams already. Maybe not passed, but given it an attempt. The downside of that, though, was that it left little room for the third wheel. The random third genin assigned to their past teams often simply wasn't able to keep up, not through lack of skill but rather lack of communication. Left to their own devices he and Nanashi often defaulted to their more streamlined communication and simply trusting that the other person knew what the other was going to do, and that usually worked just fine when they were on their own. Not so much with three people, one of whom had no idea what to expect from the others, and more often than not that lack of communication and dealing with less than conventional ideas just created other problems and things would begin to spiral downwards from there.
So, three teams within two years... Arata felt that he was fairly spot on with his initial feeling of unease at the idea of yet another Jonin attempting to give things a go. At best, the man or women had done their research, knew what they were getting into and thought they were up to the challenge. At worst, they were ignorant. Ignorant and unprepared, or thought themselves able to handle two potentially troublesome genin without any real idea of the problems at play or how to handle them... in other words, a decent shinobi but a hack at a teacher. Dressed in his usual jeans and pale gray hoodie, Arata had spent the last few hours wandering Konoha's streets as he'd pondered the implications of it all. He'd no idea where Nanashi had gone beforehand, but the late meeting time during the mid afternoon hours rather than morning had left him alone in the house with little to do but think and assume she'd be at the meeting spot on time. Having spent the last few minutes making his way through the forested training grounds, Arata had felt fairly confident at least in the idea he'd be on time if not early.
All confidence in their teacher went right out the window as Arata entered the clearing only to see someone resembling the description of the man explode, having been seated in the middle of what looked to be a makeshift arena.

The morning sun generally made a good alarm, especially when one left the curtains open a crack. Just enough to stream sunlight onto the pillow and face of the room's owner, Hattori Nanashi. The young teen rolled over, grabbing her pillow and placing it over her head; she wanted a few more hours of sleep before having to deal with another new Jounin sensei.
Would this one last longer? Three Jounin senseis in two years since she's been a genin - three teams that she and her adopted brother, Arata, had in turn survived through. Each team generally presented some of the same problems: communication and respect, at least in Nanashi's mind. Communication wasn't great between Arata and herself verse the rest of the team. They had lived together since young, constantly dealing with each other and knowing each other's little quirks which translated into great teamwork skills. Throw in the third teammate and things go to the dog house. On top of that cake, the cherry was the Jounin sensei. The second and third had been completely ignorant of the whole situation - they didn't have respect for either of the siblings, thinking they would somehow wrangle a set of troublemakers into order. Except they weren't troublemakers per say and most of the time underestimated.
Sighing, Nanashi rolled over and looked to alarm, the orange lights read just a few minutes after seven. Another groan had her rolling out of bed and into the shower. The light headache she was getting from Kurama didn't help her at all. The beast was being his general snarky self and attempting ever insult under the morning sun for her to hear. She had hoped she could have slept to about noon before having to head to the team meeting, her gut feelings was telling her it was going to be a long day.
Once out of the shower, she pulled on black leggings and a pair of red shorts to accompany her white long sleeve shirt and a black zip up sweater. Red combat styled boots that ran up just under her knees and her shinobi gear were the last pieces of her outfit before she made her way down the stairs. There was a few soft sounds coming from the kitchen, where her step mother, Miyu, was preparing breakfast. Nanashi wished her a good morning before heading out of the house. A long walk would be her solution to the headache hopefully - that an a hearty breakfast and coffee from the diner down the way.
A strong cup of coffee and a breakfast almost made her feel human. Almost.
Nursing a cup of coffee to go, she walked around the market place for a couple of hours before setting down on a park's garden wall to watch people walk by. It was relaxing in a way... Except for the add comments from Kurama. While some could be funny, other's were dark and depressing. The dark and depressing often took to descriptions of death and torture, what the taste of human flesh could be like, how delicate human bones where with just the right amount of pressure.....
If she thought about it, if she ever listened, she could say she knew more ways to kill a person than they were ever taught in the academy. It was a depressing thought.
Sighing, she got up when her watch showed her it was nearly time to the meeting. Nanashi made her way there, drinking the cold and forgotten coffee. Her eyes caught sight of Arata before catching sight of the man exploding. Standing next to her sibling, she looked over to him, "I guess it's over before it even started? If that was really him."

Raika walked down from the tree having applied chakra to his feet in order to stick to the side of the tree. Like the shadow clone, he lacked his trench coat. The man had left the overcoat on the slab of stone in the middle of the field. He had already noticed the arrival of two of his cute little potential students just before the shadow clone blew itself sky high. The jounin had wanted to gage the reactions of the pair of them as well as write down what the clone was working on within a small journal, he had the names of the individual components within the journal so the reaction didn't repeat. When he reached the ground, the dark haired man stretched slightly before heading off towards the stone slab. Keeping the two of them within vision, he wanted to make sure that they were truly his students and not assassins that had come to take out a seal practitioner. If either were the case than the man would be prepared. The trio were currently in a ardent clearing with a thick forest surrounding it. Other than the slab of stone that Raika had raised there were three upright logs, and another stone near the logs. This was the third training ground, the memorial training ground. Raika planned on lowering the slab back into the earth after their training session. Besides this training ground was much better than the bestiary that was training ground forty-four. The man never trained in that abominable jungle for a reason. Everything within that jungle was tainted and evolved to eliminate everything. Reaching the stone slab, the man jumped on it before sitting down in the middle of it near his trench coat. "Come, let us relax until our fourth member joins us," the man said while reaching into a pocket to produce a small scroll. Unrolling it and unsealing food and drink from it. "Let us eat and get to know each other," he had continued while pouring himself a cup of green tea. Sipping from it he offered the two of them a smile. He never even mentioned the explosion, as if it were a regular thing in his life. Nor was he saying how he survived a point blank explosion. 'Let them figure it out for themselves,' he chuckled inside his own mind. Raika wasn't there to hold their hands, protect them from enemy jounin yes, but never to coddle them like toddlers. If they didn't figure these things themselves than they would never progress. He had heard the female's words. They did not even think about looking underneath the underneath... | LEGENDS NEVER DIE THEY BECOME A PART OF YOU |

Post by Kaoru Maeda on Dec 5, 2017 1:56:59 GMT
Kaoru had spent her morning in town. She'd bought a few baubles for her home, a few extra tools to replace the ones she'd used before, and then had been in the training grounds after that practicing her jutsu. She had been sitting up in one of the trees near the edge munching on a sandwich when she heard an explosion. She had been facing away from the training grounds, so when she peered around the other side of the tree, she saw the puff of smoke of what looked like a clone of some sort fading. She wondered what that could have been, but shrugged it off. It was then that she saw the two other Genin enter the training field, and a man walk out of the tree line, presumably their Jounin, and that was when she remembered that she had a meeting today. She jumped up from her branch, rewrapping her half eaten sandwich and shoving it back into her waist bag. She nearly fell off the tree standing up so quickly, but righted herself and coated her feet in chakra, walking down the tree a little precariously. It was a little tricky, given that she was wearing one of her usual floral yukata and there wasn't a ton of room for leg movement. Hopping the last few feet off the tree, she hurried over to the group, following the same path the jounin had taken. They had pulled out tea and food already from somewhere when she got there, and she smiled and waved at them shyly. "Hi. Sorry I'm late." Her voice was quiet and apologetic, but not timid. She had been looking forward to meeting her new teammates. She'd only been on one other team prior to this, so it was kind of exciting. WORDS: XXX TAGS: @tag NOTES:
