The following is Cursed Shuriken's IC history! We're AU, so our timeline and events deviate from the canon material. Please use this written history as you're filling out your character history to make sure everything makes sense.
✱ Year 200 ✱
The various nations of the world were still very much in a warring states era, with skirmishes breaking out quite regularly among and between countries. The reason for these varied, but the tensions between the Land of Fire and the Land of Earth eventually got to a breaking point.
✱ Year 205 ✱
The Land of Fire had sent a supply convoy to a lesser nation, a goodwill effort for their budding alliance, but the convoy was attacked and completely destroyed while moving through the heart of Earth Country. Fire Country declared that Earth Country was to pay for the damages in full, but Earth Country did not accept responsibility for what they claimed were "random vigilantes" unaffiliated with their leadership. Negotiations for reparations fell apart very quickly, and a war broke out between them, declared the "Burning Earth War" for the mass destruction caused in both lands.
✱ Year 210 ✱
The war was five (5) years in, and the major clans within Fire Country had seen enough bloodshed. They banded together (the Senju, the Uchiha, and the Hyuuga) to use their numbers and political sway to talk the country's multiple daimyo down from continued aggression. In time, every daimyo agreed. They collectively sent a peace offering to Earth Country's leaders: an armed convoy of harvested goods from the finest fields in Fire Country: fresh fruits, seasoned meat cuts, and even some high-grade weaponry. Earth Country's council of daimyo, moved by the gesture and further counseled by the nation's own prominent clans, agreed to the peace offering. Hence, the war ended in November of Year 210.
The following "hidden villages" were founded after the war:
December 210: Konohagakure no Sato (Hidden Leaf Village)
December 210: Iwagakure no Sato (Hidden Stone Village)
✱ Year 211 ✱
Taking an example from Earth and Fire Countries, the other major nations (Kiri, Suna, and Kumo) saw their clans similarly implore leadership to create formal military establishments to facilitate regular communications both within their own borders and with their neighboring countries.
The following "hidden villages" were founded this year:
March 211: Kirigakure no Sato (Hidden Mist Village)
July 211: Sunagakure no Sato (Hidden Sand Village)
September 211: Kumogakure no Sato (Hidden Cloud Village)
Lightning Country was the last to fully support a hidden village, but this was because there'd been so much fighting among various clans for control. The Yotsuki Clan would come out on top, however, and their influence would henceforth be seen as an almost "dictatorship." Their clansmen were advisors to the first Raikage, and it was the Yotsuki who so strongly supported the succession of the second Raikage. This trend continued, with the Yotsuki still holding extreme influence over how Lightning Country operates. They are a powerful presence in the Hidden Cloud Village.
✱ Year 213 ✱
Building up more military establishments in line with the hidden villages did take some time. It wasn't until this year that all of the major nations had finalized their new setup. Each hidden village for every nation tended to its military needs: training soldiers (namely, ninja) and teaching the ways of history, culture, survival, academics, and combat. Male shinobi tended to focus more on the intricacies of combat and war strategy. Female kunoichi were given added education on things like flower arrangement, basic first aid, and social skills (see: seduction and persuasion) to help their male counterparts in areas that didn't need brute strength but rather finesse and a gentler hand.
✱ Year 215 ✱
All of the five (5) major nations were now in full swing and gaining more power and confidence. The number of random skirmishes along borders plummeted, as each country knew that its neighbors had a means to defend themselves, and there were better channels to communicate now (Kage to Kage) rather than resort to petty violence. Messenger hawks became a symbol of prosperity to the common people. And, generally speaking, the noble clans of each country (the ones who founded the hidden village system) were kept in very high regard.

✱ Year 265 ✱
Fast forwarding to fifty (50) years later, the five major ninja villages are still the most powerful forces in the world:
Fire Country (Hi no Kuni) | Konohagakure no Sato | Hidden Leaf Village
Water Country (Mizu no Kuni) | Kirigakure no Sato | Hidden Mist Village
Wind Country (Kaze no Kuni) | Sunagakure no Sato | Hidden Sand Village
Earth Country (Tsuchi no Kuni) | Iwagakure no Sato | Hidden Stone Village
Lightning Country (Kaminari no Kuni) | Kumogakure no Sato | Hidden Cloud Village
There are lesser nations slowly rising into view on the world stage, but they haven't drawn themselves into the public eye just yet. What other superpowers within the world are there? Time will tell!
✱ Our current year is Year 266 (for the OOC year 2021).
