APPEARANCE
Intimidating probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you see Takano Kaguya. Standing at 6’1 and weighing in at 180 pounds, a lifetime of sickness has left the Genin rather lean for his lifestyle. His build, while muscular and fit, has not quite reached the level of peak physical condition that some of his peers have. His hair is a strange silvery-blue (likely due to some conflict of genetics due to his dual heritage), and is perpetually messy from his habit of running his fingers through it. The Kaguya’s deep brown eyes peer over high cheekbones and a smooth, almost unlined face.
Takano’s personal style tends towards the functional, favoring tough, utilitarian clothes suitable for day-to-day operations as well as the battlefield, normally colored in whites, reds and blacks.
PERSONALITY
Capturing the essence of Takano Kaguya in a series of broad sweeping strokes is a task that has frustrated many of his teachers and peers. Whereas most stereotypical Kaguya of the clan can be summed up in a few short lines, Takano’s personality tends towards the more..eccentric.
His first, and most defining characteristic is his near-obsessive curiosity. The Kaguya loves to break apart a situation into its whys and hows, believing that anything that piques his interest is worth understanding in its entirety. This quality, while quite valuable when gathering information in the field, has often gotten him into trouble in a village where obedience and secrecy are seen as virtues. This is not to say that Takano is some sort of maverick that scoffs at any attempt at regulation, on the contrary his rigid upbringing has left him with a keen understanding that those in power must be obeyed. It is simply his enthusiasm and enjoyment of a challenge that leads him down paths that would have been perhaps best left untread.
On the flip side of this coin, however, is Takano’s approach to matters when put in a more high-pressure situation. Despite his carefree and gregarious outer shell, a lifetime of harsh training and indoctrination due to his unfortunate circumstances has left him with a streak of what one would politely call pragmatism. In pursuit of his goals, no strategy or tactic is out of the question, least of all for a silly reason like honor. Although he is not averse to frontal engagements, Takano often prefers to “use his surroundings” as he terms it, setting up traps and tricks to help boost his chances at success. Any opportunity that does so is to be seized and exploited, no matter the cost.
This naturally segues into less admirable aspects of Takano’s personality. A childhood of living in and out of hospitals has left him a tad emotionally stunted. This is not to say he is antisocial per say, on the contrary he often enjoys engaging with his peers. It is simply that, when pushed, the Kaguya’s emotions have been known to run a little wild, making him rather easy to read and manipulate both on and off the battlefield. His creative approach to issues, while helpful when out of the box thinking is necessary, can often lead him to overcomplicate what should be rather simple issues, using a scalpel when perhaps a hammer would have been the simplest solution. Finally, his avid pursuit of new knowledge can often lead to decisions that are quite reckless. When passionate about something, Takano will often toe the line between success and utter disaster, and can easily be pushed over the edge by a third party.

The Kaguya clan are descendants of Kaguya Ootsutsuki, and some possess the kekkei genkai Shikotsumyaku: This ability allows them to manipulate and accelerate their bodies' bone growth and structure at will, allowing them to rapidly attack and defend using especially durable bone constructs: blades, shields, projectiles, etc.

Enhanced Durability
In spite of his issues actively utilizing his bloodlimit, Takano’s body has been put through a crucible of harsh training designed by his father to maximize his inherent Kaguya gifts. Thus, Takano’s defenses are exceptionally durable for genin of his caliber, even surpassing some of his more conventional cousins. Before even counting the things he can accomplish with the clan abilities he has painstakingly developed, Takano is able to take an amount of physical punishment that would put most of his peers in a hospital bed. Although he will still take damage from conventional attacks, the damage will be much less than one would expect. Large amounts of blunt force are needed to truly put Takano down, and even some piercing attacks can be mitigated, although not completely nullified. Once his Kaguya heritage is added in, Takano is simply miles ahead of all but the most specialized of genin.

HISTORY
Year 244: In order to further their grasp on the internal affairs of Kirigakure, the noble clans of the Kaguya and Noboyou forged a secret alliance. Both clans possessed storied histories and powerful bloodline limits, and by combining their resources they would surely be able to seize a majority on the Council of Elders, and perhaps the seat of the Mizukage. In order to stabilize what was already a rather unstable alliance, a marriage pact was arranged between the two clans. Minori Kaguya and Katsumi Noboyou were both talented and experienced Jounin with potential to rise to a high position in their respective clans. There was even the hope that the union of two such powerful bloodlines would lead to equally powerful offspring: a foundation for the next generation of Kirigakure shinobi.
Year 248-252: Takano Kaguya was born the first of Minori and Katsumi’s five children, and initially, things went rather well. As one would expect of a child of two high-ranking ninja, Takano’s life was one of luxury and wealth, and he never really knew any form of want. As per Kaguya tradition, his initial training in shinobi teachings began very young. Even the simplest children’s games taught lessons of balance and basic concealment tactics. In this, Takano not only persevered but thrived. He dreamed of one day raising the Kaguya to prominence, standing along such legends such as the Uchiha or Jinton clans.
Year 255:The year following Takano’s seventh birthday was the worst of his young life. Like most Kaguya, the harsh and challenging circumstances of his upbringing awakened his bloodlimit fairly early when compared to other noble clans. This was expected and even encouraged, as the earlier the abilities were awoken, the greater time the young had to hone their proficiency with them. In Takano’s case, this became even more important, as there was a chance, however slight, that he might be able to awaken the power of two bloodline limits. Unfortunately, this was when Takano’s comfortable and extraordinary life took a turn for the worse. Mere hours after he had produced his very first bone constructs he was rushed to the hospital after having collapsed, screaming in agony.
It was later discovered that not only had the dual inheritance failed, but the addition of Noboyou blood had prevented Takano’s body from developing the ability to process the increased calcium levels resulting from the use of his abilities. It wasn’t a crippling weakness: such a situation had occurred once or twice before in the records of the Kaguya and with enough practice it could be somewhat overcome. However, this would always be a weakness of his, and his parents explained that it likely meant any dreams of becoming a legendary shinobi were likely impossible to him now. While his parents were disappointed by these results, they understood that it was a matter of genetics, not work ethic, that had threatened their legacy. Minori’s focus in particular shifted to the boy’s younger siblings in the hopes that one of them, at least, would prove a worthy successor.
Year 256-260: Discouraged but not broken, Takano worked himself like a demon the rest of the year and managed to barely clear the clan’s standard for entering the academy only one year behind. The next four years of study were a little lonely: his condition prevented him from participating in many of the Kaguya’s tournaments that served as a way for young members of the clan to distinguish themselves. While Takano’s talent for the shinobi arts wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination, his inability to use Shikotsumyaku and frequent hospitalizations meant he had fallen too far behind his peers to ever catch up. Takano graduated in the four years, as was the standard, with particularly high marks in Taijutsu and evenly a fairly decent score in Ninjutsu: unusual for the physically-focused Kaguya.
Year 260-266: For the next six years, Takano worked hard to make his parents proud and prove that he could be just as capable as any other, non-crippled genin ninja. He worked through the exercises he had been provided to acclimate his body to the backlash of his abilities. He honed his more mundane skills, and spent hours combing through the general archives of Kirigakure and the more specialized Kaguya libraries in search of ways to improve his condition. Rather surprisingly, the Kaguya found that he actually quite enjoyed combing through dusty archives, searching to satisfy nothing but his own curiosity.
Unfortunately, Takano was not some elderly researcher, and did not have the patience to pursue this forever. In a fit of frustration, the Kaguya drew deeper on his bloodlimit then he had dared to in a long time, and paid the price. For months, the Kaguya languished in the hospital as medical nin labored to repair his broken body, cursing his impatience and recklessness. After he was finally released, he was reassigned to a new genin team, as his old team had been promoted months before….

“Why”
The word hung in the air like a tangible force, summoning all the thoughts that Takano had tried his best to repress in the days since the accident. He stared out the window of the hospital room, watching as the rain ran down the windows in streaks. Somewhere in that rain were his friends and peers in the Academy, working on their wilderness survival training even during such a harsh storm. By all rights, Takano should have been with them: he had repeatedly scored high marks on the subject, even surpassing his talented brothers Shou and Hachiro for once. Of course, they were the true inheritors, they didn’t have to worry about their bodies giving out the second they attempted a jutsu that should have been well within their abilities.
Takano’s father grunted when his son refused to answer, adjusting himself on the simple plastic chair that had been provided to him. The Jounin was a true son of the clan, his body muscular and covered with the scars of a thousand combats. He had been everything Takano had aspired to be, and now could never achieve. Consequently, the man was not exactly one for subtlety.
“It was a damn stupid thing to do boy. You know that pushing yourself that far would put you here, I know that you knew that. There is stubbornness, and then there is simply being pig-headed. If you would just do your exercises more, then you could overcome this obstacle.”
Takano was so sick of that logic. Just try harder. Just work more and your problem will be resolved. Somehow, despite his parents' good intentions, everything always came back to the idea that he simply wasn't trying hard enough to overcome his disability. That it was somehow his laziness prompting him to explode in pain every time he overstepped his limitations. If only they knew how much blood sweat and tears it had required to wield even the beginning of his clan’s powers. Underneath the blanket, his nails dug into his palm as he forced down the desire to rage, to scream at the world for the unfairness of it all. Takano inhaled deeply. Swallowed once.
“....I’m tired. Tell Mother thank you for the food.”
And with that, Takano turned over, his back facing his father. It would be some time before he fell asleep……..
