YOTSUKI MINAMI
ADDRESS ME YOUR MAJESTY
THIRTY-FIVE | FEMALE |
ELITE JOUNIN | KUMOGAKURE |
APPEARANCE
Minami appears as a very well mannered woman and traditional at the first look. Her height is 5 ft 9 in and her weight is around 135 lbs. She has short brown hair at shoulder length with eyes of the same color. Her skin complexion is light with almost no scar intact. Her body has a mature figure as it curves to it, but is often hidden by a white kimono. She wears a variety of kimonos of different colors as it seems to be her default fashion choice.
PERSONALITY
At first glance, Minami appears soft. A once loving and caring woman who was practically a motherly figure, Minami turned into a ruthless Raikage that puts the well being of her clan and village above all else. Her pessimism makes her cautious of who she bore out her secrets to. She's a calculative and discreet woman who is very observant when it comes to her surroundings and the people around her. She has a cool head on her shoulders and is usually calm, but when she's pushed over the edge she doesn't hold back on her temper. On the other hand, she knows how to be friendly and display herself as kind and warm. She knows how to console and comfort, boosting her image as a caring Raikage to the general public. Those that work closely with Minami would know her true nature and darkest secrets.
Minami cherishes her son, Saito, more than anything else. Her love may by stern, but only because she wants nothing but the best for him as she pushes him to become a resourceful shinobi to the clan and, of course, the village. On the other hand with her husband, well, she doesn't like to talk about him much.

Minami is far from being immune to damage, but she can take more damage than usual. She pushes through kicks, punches, cuts, and bruises without a problem. It takes longer for pain to register depending on the attack given to her, but with just enough attacks landed on her, she'll begin to feel the effects.

HISTORY
Minami was grateful into being born into a village, better yet a clan, that was rich with resources. Minami held great pride into being a Yotsuki and always put her clan first. Her parents decided to live out an ordinary life, far away from the dangers of being a shinobi and live safer. Her parents have decided to run their own little restaurant that would be passed off to Minami as being the owner when she gets older alongside her much younger brother, by 8 years, Naoki.
But Minami had other plans. She wanted to become a shinobi and help contribute to the village as one. She had many dreams of becoming a shinobi and fantasized going on many adventures. Minami saw herself as a hero and wanted to fight evil for the greater good, despite what the clan has done. Unfortunately, her parents were strict with Minami’s future and wanted her to help them in the restaurant. She made it clear that she didn’t want to live a civilian life and saw there was more to life than being just an ordinary citizen. Minami pleaded with her parents to let her become a shinobi. She swore that she would not only help her parents financially with the money she would be making from missions, but also help protect them since she would have the appropriate skills to defend them. With luck on her side, her parents were able to let her become an academy student.
Minami’s skills as a shinobi were average at best when she entered. As a Yotsuki, it was expected of her to live up to her clan’s exceptional expectations of what a Yotsuki is but only for her to be not what everyone was expecting. Minami knew she would be ridiculed by her fellow classmates, some who were even Yotsuki themselves and look down on her for such misfortune. At some point during her days in the academy, she did consider dropping out due to the amount of harassment and ridicule she’s been getting.
This didn’t stop her from trying to improve her skills. She may not have been gifted naturally, but she did learn that skill comes from practice (or so she’d thought). Through intense solo training, she would try and improve her skills every single day whenever she could even if her body screams at her to take a break. As she kept training, she kept climbing up her class ranks. She went from being in the top 10 worst students to being one of the top three. She didn’t finish as first, as much disappointment she had from not being first. Still, for the fact that she was one of the top three students in her class was enough motivation for her to keep going. With that all said and done, Minami was able to graduate within two years of her class at 12 years old with a few other students.
Minami’s life as a Genin had a few ups but many downs. She was placed in a team with all males, two of which her teammates were Yotsuki clan members. Minami was praised by her teammates and her squad leader for managing to surpass the majority of her class as a comeback. What she thought her team members would be enemies were friends she managed to make naturally in just a few seconds. She naturally got along well with her team and everything went accordingly for now.
Minami’s first mission consisted of finding and returning someone’s runaway pet. One wouldn’t think there would be any danger from finding a lost dog and returning it to its owner. She and her team traveled out the village to look for the lost dog, agreeing that they should split up so their chances of finding the lost pet would increase instead of sticking together as a team. For Minami, it gave her a sense of independence, something that gave her power of the sorts. With something so mundane and ordinary, what was the worst that could happen?
When the four split up, Minami encountered two men in their early forties wielding heavy weapons, specifically long-bladed swords and a large mace. When they approached her, they had no intent of having regular conversations or helping Minami find a lost dog. They had an intent to kill the young girl. By their looks, on the contrary of Minami expecting them to be strong shinobi, they looked nothing more than a bunch of rowdy criminals looking to cause some trouble or kill someone just for the hell out of it. When she went into battle, Minami was able to match with their level in terms of skills. Fortunately, she began to wear them down with her agility and had the opportunity to kill them, as one was down and the other was bloodied up with Minami mounted on top of him with a dagger over his head. If she were to kill them, then that meant they wouldn’t harm anyone or break into the country. It felt like the right thing to do.
Except she couldn’t do it. Minami could’ve never seen herself try and take someone else’s life, even if they deserved it.
She was willing to do heavy damage, but she could never end one’s life. The opportunity was missed as the two criminals began to overpower her and nearly took her own life until her team had arrived and began fighting them off. Her teammates were fighting the criminals while her mentor took her to the side to check how she was doing. She wasn’t in anything too critical, but it was best for her not to move. Minami refused to lay down while her teammates fight her battle for her even though she wasn’t in the best condition and her mentor could’ve easily taken both of them down. Abruptly standing up, she clumsily aimed at one of the criminals and sloppily aimed it at one of their heads to stop them. It wasn’t where she wanted to aim, but it was at least enough for her to take down the threat permanently whether she liked it or not.
Until she accidentally struck one of her own teammates in the head, immediately taking him down as his body fell on the ground. Everyone stopped what they were doing as they just witness Minami accidentally killing one of her own teammates. No, one of her closest friends. Her other teammate was quick to take down the criminal just in time for him to check up onto the fallen member while her mentor ran up to the second criminal and took him down. Minami could only stare and stand in shock as she just witnessed herself killing her own friend. She could already felt the tears streaming down her face as she began to break down
After witnessing the murder of her friend, not else could be remembered as she passed out from her break down. The only thing she remembered was when she woke up in a hospital bed surrounded by not just her mentor and other teammate, but with her family around as well. This moment made Minami quit shinobi life, but not permanently. She wanted to find some time to recover from her own accidental murder against her own teammate and be at peace for a little bit. Understanding, her mentor and teammate sympathized with Minami and have allowed her to do so. This also led into Minami refusing to kill anyone, but was welcomed to letting others do the job for her instead.
It took Minami at least four months for her to recover all while training. She did agreed to resting for a while, but she refused to let her skills collect dust. On the contrary to this, Minami has been helping her family around the restaurant and take care of her little brother, Naoki. Right after those four months, Minami went back to her Genin life and continued to complete missions.
Before she knew it, the Chunin Exams had arrived. It was a battle that she would never forget. She went through multiple rounds of the tournament of the fighting portion, but one of her most memorable battles was when she went up against a girl named Sana. It was a brutal match from both sides, but what happened at the end was what happened with her deceased teammate. The only difference to that was Sana was at near death. Minami had no idea what was in her or what got into her to get into the arena and even had the thought to try and attempt murder. She was extremely lucky the conductor chimed in and stopped the two from going on any longer. The event haunted Minami, but she passed the exams nonetheless and was promoted to Chunin at 17.
Just days after her promotion, Minami met who was later the love of her life: a man named Benjiro Yamasaki who was the same as Minami, but just a few months older. He was a suave young man that charmed his way into her heart. Soft, caring, smooth with his words, he had all the qualities that made Minami fall for him. The two displayed great interest in each other which later blossomed into a healthy and loving relationship.
At 20, Minami became a Special Jonin and also the time where she got married. She led her own squad and went on various missions while she was still in a relationship with Benjiro. The topic of children came up from Benjiro and wanting to start a family. Minami was very hesitant about the decision. She wanted to start a family, but she felt it was too soon when she was at the peak of her shinobi career. She eventually came around with the idea three years later and became pregnant with his child. At 23, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Saito. At the time, Benjiro decided to retire from the shinobi life and live a more peaceful life as a civilian.
She took time off to take care of her child before she immediately went back into action a few months later, leaving Saito with Benjiros to watch over him. Benjiro criticized Minami for not spending time with her child and prioritizing work over family. Minami defended herself and wanted to be a strong example for her son for when he becomes a shinobi himself. However, such a goal caused her to become nearly absent throughout most of her son's life. Their relationship became sour due to Minami neglecting her family overtime, however they only stayed together for Saito's sake.
At 26, Minami was promoted to Jounin after her hard work and displaying very exceptional power in the frontline. She was called in by the Raikage for a very special mission that made her open her eyes about her clan's true nature. She, along with hundreds of shinobi that were drafted, was sent to another village that neighbored Kumogakure and take over to claim as Kumogakure and Yotsuki territory. The lives that she claimed, the brutal murders she committed against innocent people and the soldiers she stained, al of it was stuck in her head. But it opened a new side for Minami. A side that she knew would do better if it meant getting powerful and rising to the top as a way to survive. She became more cynical, cold, and ruthless, the three things that made her more of a sufficient shinobi in her performance, even if it hurt the people around her.
Throughout the change in her work ethics, Minami still tried her best to be present for Saito. Benjiro viewed her in a bad light, but it didn't matter. She wanted to make sure that Saito grew up to be one of the best shinobi the village had ever seen and would do whatever it took for him to get it.
Two years later, at 28, Minami became an Elite Jounin and was praised for her viable skills as a shinobi by the Raikage. Upon her promotion, she was offered the position as the next Raikage. She took the position and promised to lead Kumogakure to nothing but greatness. If she had to do questionable and immoral things to achieve it, she had no problem doing so.

The training grounds only has a scarce amount of other shinobi training by themselves, mostly academy students. There was only but a pair or two training together which did stuck out. Kunai and shuriken were slung about, kicks and punches burst into the air, and If Minami was going to become a genin (and a hard emphasis on "if"), she needed to prove she had the skills of becoming one, if not going beyond the expectancy of what a genin is capable of. The idea of killing someone still gave her a churning sensation in her stomach. However, she couldn't avoid such a requirement to become a ninja and had to deal with it eventually. It was something she had to deal with. In fact, it was one of the main reasons why she was here.
Before she started training, Minami stretched to make sure her muscles weren't too tense before she began. Arms were over her head, she leaned over her right side, and pressed her fingers together which made a few popping noises. The stretching process would only last for a couple of seconds before she would return to her idle pose. It was something that became a habit thanks to her mother when she was younger and she never really saw the point in stretching back then. It was nothing more than a waste of time and energy, although recently Minami has began to value its use.
Legs were shoulder width apart as she slightly bent her knees. The young girl took a deep breath and harshly exhaled while she took a moment to close her eyes. She already felt her heart pounding against her chest loud enough for her to hear. Minami felt herself trembling out of nervousness, but she tried her best to cancel it all out. She was ready, she was prepared to dash off, she wanted to began. The sooner she started, the quicker she could get this over with. All she had to do was to keep calm and just run as far as she could and as long as her body would allow her to.
Minami inhaled once more and held it in. Her eyes opened as both fists were clenched tightly. Before she knew it, her legs began to work on their own as she began to dash across the field. Her hair would flow with the wind and the harsh breeze being brushed on her face. Minami felt her heart pounding faster than before with each step taken. Her breathing became heavy as her whole body began to tense up. Pain surged all over as she pushed her body's limit, but she showed no signs of stopping. She kept going until her body would go numb, until she couldn't feel the pain any longer. She kept going and going, one foot thrown in front of the other and her muscles began to tense.
Minami began to breathe heavily as her running pace also began to slow down. This didn't stop her from moving, but this did made her gave into running. She transitioned to jogging as an attempt to help relieve her body, but the pain still surged around her body since she kept on moving. She wasn't ready to back down just yet. She wanted to see how far her body would allow her to go and wanted to see how far her body's limit to go. By feeling, she was well past the line, but she wanted to keep going. As a shinobi, it was all about pushing to the limit no matter how much it hurts. Even if it felt like she was about to collapse, she didn't let herself down so easily. She didn't know when she was going to stop. In fact, she didn't know when to stop. Stubbornness took over the young girl as she wanted to prove her self worth to, well, herself. Just a little bit further, she'd think to herself. Just a little bit further.
But it was at that moment that Minami's body wasn't able to continue. Her jogging form became sloppy as if her whole body flailed around. She made a few heavy stomps while she slowed down with her arms dropped to her sides. Immediately her body was put at halt as she continued to breathe heavily. Her knees were bent and her hands were on them, sweat traveled from the side of her and dripped from her chin. Minami couldn't speak properly, let alone try to process what was going on without her body screaming for it to take a rest. Nothing but strains and tension filled her muscles as Minami was struggling to stand. With all the weight she put onto her legs while she tried to catch her breath, she was surprised she was still standing.
Eventually and as expected, Minami fell onto her knees and pushed herself back to sit on her bottom. She slouched as she was still breathing heavily. Finally, her body gave up on her as she fell backwards. Her heart pounded like it was her last day on this planet. It was as if it could be heard if someone was right next to her. Her face was scrunched up as she tried to cope with the tension that ran all over her body. Eyes were closed shut, hands were curled and clutched into fists, and a heavy sigh was pushed out. Minami couldn't even move her arms nor legs. If she tried to do so, she would only be met with more pain.
Minami honestly didn't know how far she traveled nor knew how long she was running, but she was proud to know that she didn't give up so early. Truth be told, she would've stopped within ten seconds after she started running. She was surprised she was able to go on, even if her body was begging her to stop. Although the actual sensation would say otherwise, at this point, pain was a reward than great discomfort. Did she enjoy it? Not one bit. Was it worth it? Of course.
"Hey, you should probably get up. The last thing you want is someone 'accidentally' killing you or mistaking you for being dead." A voice rung into Minami's ears as her attention went from trying to ease her body into relief to the voice talking to her. The voice sounded it was feminine, but it had a raspy tone to it. A little harsh, might Minami add. Though, the voice did give Minami good advice. The last thing she wanted was to be mistaken to be dead; It'd be worse if someone actually turns that into reality. Now that, that there would be a tragedy and honestly a horrible way to go out from this world.
Minami tried her best to sit up, but she was only met with pain and discomfort. She made a soft grunt as she tried her best to force her body to listen to her commands. Unfortunately, her body rebelled with pain. "Ah..." She gently sighed as she tried to look over to the person that talked to her. "I'm... a bit worn out, unfortunately. To the point where I literally can't move my body." She mentioned with a nervous giggle. Minami tried to move her body to make a point which was also responded with the grunts of pain, also used to make a point.
"Hmm. Guess I'll just sit with you for a bit." The voice responded. The figure stepped over to where Minami's head was lying and sat in front of her. There, Minami met a young girl who looked around to be within the same age range as the blonde girl, but generally younger. She had shoulder length red hair with dark green eyes to compliment her fair complexion. She had a petite figure with what seems to be just a faded scar resting on her neck. Just seeing the scar from where Minami lied sent shivers down her back. Even those shivers caused her body to ache a little more. Her outfit seemed to be simple enough; a white t-shirt with a black star stuck to the center and black shorts with horizontal lines running down the side of her leg sleeves. Her footwear looked like sandals, but with a closer look, they seemed a bit worn out. It looked like Minami was in awe as she stared at the young girl; interested, in fact. The young redhead was able to pick up the glance she was receiving and made a face out of not only confusion but a bit of disgust mixed in. "Watch it, I don't roll that way." She warned.
It was then Minami's turn to look confused. What did she mean by that? Why did she even say that? "I... don't really under-" To be honest Minami was left clueless as she was given a vague and random warning, but then caught onto what was going on. She couldn't help but giggle at the flustered child as she looked at her face. "No worries, you're no where near my type, anyway." She joked. Minami always found a way to shed some light in situations where it seems a bit hostile and aggressive. It wasn't to say the girl herself became immediately hostile and aggressive, but it was more or less awkward to know the young girl took it on that route. Why would she think that? Well, that was beyond Minami's own knowledge.
The young girl scoffed and rolled her eyes at Minami's response. "Well good..." She mumbled as she turned her eyes away from the blonde girl. Minami already felt the awkward tension rising between them. She still couldn't get over the fact of how the young girl thought she was looking at her in a different light. It was actually a little funny. Though after the little exchange, the two girls went quiet, waiting for one another to speak up and break the tension. Minami expected the redhead to talk since she walked up to the blonde girl and maybe introduce herself. As Minami continued to look at the girl, she seemed to be fidgeting around as her eyes were everywhere else but Minami. Was she shy? Considering how no one was really breaking the ice, it wasn't a surprise to figure out that she was most likely uncomfortable with the silence more than anything. With that said, Minami had no problem breaking the ice.
"It's awfully nice of you to keep me some company while my body is screaming at me for pushing it at its limit." Minami joked. She honestly wasn't expecting anyone to check up on her. Given that this village's community can be cold, it was like a miracle rained on her. It was a strange miracle, but she wasn't expecting anything less of it.
The redhead turned her head back to Minami, but it was only short before she looked at the ground. "Yeah, I guess. I was just looking out for you is all." She mentioned. A "you're welcome" would've sufficed for the blonde girl, Minami actually found that pretty sweet of the other young girl. It brought a warm smile to her face. The redhead on the other hand looked more flustered as she saw Minami smiling at her from the corners of her eyes. The redhead went onto sigh as she flickered her eyes back to the blonde woman. "You know... you don't look like someone fit to be a shinobi." The redhead bluntly spewed out.
Minami would be lying if she said she wasn't caught off guard by the redheaded girl's rather forward statement. Where did she got that idea from? "Whatever gave you that idea?" She asked. Was it the fact that Minami could barely move her body or let alone stop focusing on the pain no matter how hard she tried? Maybe she watched her sprint across the field and probably looked like an idiot. Oh, the embarrassment.
The redhead only shrugged as her response. "I don't know... you just don't look like someone who shouldn't be training is all. Maybe better things... like painting nails or something. Or maybe go into fashion." She replied.
"Assuming that painting nails is actually more exciting than getting out there and progressing to be a stronger shinobi." Minami retaliated. She didn't really like the direction this conversation and wasn't going to take it any longer. "Listen dear, I appreciate your concerns and such, but the least you could do is to not look down on my skills just based on what I looked like." This conversation reminded her of her mother and how her parents refused to let her become a shinobi. After learning the hard truth of what it took to become a genin, she wasn't willing to back down and wasn't willing to throw away everything she had done to get to this point.
The redhead didn't seemed bothered by Minami's defense. In fact, it looked like she didn't care. "Have it your way." She said as she got up from the ground and walked away. Minami could only watch her only company disappear from the lying blonde girl. It wasn't as if it mattered whether or not she had company. Her body was beginning to recover to the point where she was actually able to sit up. Though as she did sit up, she couldn't help but watch the redhead walk off. It was... an odd but interesting encounter to say the least.
It was more or less a one time thing to encounter such a person, well not really, but really if she was given another chance to speak with the girl again, she'd take it.
